Cypress-based Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. said it plans to advertise during NBC Universo’s Spanish-language telecast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.
The 30-second ad, created by Grupo Gallegos in Huntington Beach, will promote the automaker’s 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage, Lancer and Outlander Sport vehicles.
“We’re expanding our emphasis on reaching Hispanic consumers,” Mitsubishi Motors’ Director of Marketing Francine Harsini said in a statement, and the ad intends to “create unique marketing assets for this group that will resonate with their life and values.”
The price of an ad during the Spanish-language broadcast was not disclosed. Two local advertisers are coughing up $4.4 million each for a 30-second Super Bowl 2015 spot during the English-language broadcast on NBC: Irvine-based Kia Motors America Inc. and Mophie Inc. in Tustin.
Last year’s inaugural Spanish-language telecast of the big game on Fox Deportes averaged 561,000 viewers and was “the most watched non-soccer sports event in Spanish cable history,” according to NFL.com.
