Irvine-based magazine publisher Duncan McIntosh Co. has acquired New York-based newspaper journal Editor & Publisher, two weeks after it closed.
The boating magazine publisher bought the newspaper journal from Nielsen Co. of the Netherlands, according to a story on Editor & Publisher’s Web site, which was revived Thursday.
Nielsen closed Editor & Publisher in December.
Terms of the sale weren’t disclosed.
Duncan McIntosh produces several boating magazines and newspapers including Boating World magazine, Sea Magazine, The Log Newspaper and FishRap.
The company also produces the Newport Boat Show in the spring and the Lido Yacht Expo in the fall.
Chief Executive Duncan McIntosh said he wanted to keep the magazine and its digital newsgathering going, according to a story on Editor & Publisher’s Web site.
Mark Fitzgerald was named Editor & Publisher’s editor. He recently served as the newspaper journal’s editor-at-large. Charles McKeown will continue as publisher of the newspaper.
E&P plans to resume publication in print and online following its sale Thursday.
