Kevin Costelloe and Alexa Corbett have joined the Orange County Business Journal as reporters.
Costelloe primarily will be covering the technology industry for the paper, while Corbett’s main focus is healthcare.
“These two reporters are great additions to our staff, and will help elevate our coverage of Orange County businesses,” Editor Mark Mueller said.
“As print media cuts back on investment in journalism, the Business Journal is proud to recruit and retain the most talented professionals in our history,” said Publisher Richard Reisman. “We couldn’t be more delighted at our two new additions to our editorial staff.”
Costelloe spent many years as a reporter and editor for The Associated Press and Bloomberg News, reporting on everything from the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 to the S&P Credit Rating downgrade of U.S. debt in 2011.
He has covered business and economic news from Washington and several foreign countries, most recently Italy, where he was an economy editor for Bloomberg.
Costelloe, who has a law degree and speaks Italian, French and German, is looking forward to covering technology, economics and other business stories in fast-moving Orange County.
He can be reached at costelloe@ocbj.com.
He and his wife, Barbara, will be living in Irvine just a short walk from the OCBJ office. They have three adult children who live in Los Angeles, London and Milan.
Corbett joins the paper as an accomplished author and poet with 15 published books available on Amazon.com, under the A. Leigh Corbett byline.
She also started a company, Meeüz, to advise others on publishing, screenwriting and other similar skills. She has two degrees from Chapman University, most recently a master’s degree in creative writing.
She has extensive knowledge of Orange County’s business and startup scene, including having worked for Walter Cruttenden, the co-founder of Acorns Advisers LLC (see story, front page).
Corbett is covering Orange County’s vibrant health industry, which includes medical device companies, bio-pharmaceutical firms, and hospitals among other areas.
She can be reached at corbett@ocbj.com.
Corbett lives in Nellie Gail and has been an equestrian for over 19 years, having competed in the AA show jumping circuit as a teenager. She is also a painter whose work has been shown at Chapman exhibitions.
