Corporate Lawyers Honored

he Business Journal held its 2nd annual General Counsel Awards on June 28 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine. More than 30 lawyers from some of Orange County’s largest public and private companies were nominated. The five honorees included corporate counsel from real estate, apparel and medical device companies. More than 400 people—including lawyers, businesspeople and others—attended the event. Chapman University Law School Dean Tom Campbell—a former businessman, congressman and candidate for statewide office—delivered the keynote address. Coverage of the honorees starts on page 1.

The honorees:

• John Alpay, director of legal affairs for apparel and sunglasses maker Oakley in Foothill Ranch, which is part of Italy’s Luxottica Group SPA.

• Stergios “Terry” Theologides, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Santa Ana-based real estate data and research provider CoreLogic.

• Daniel Burke, executive vice president of administration, general counsel and secretary for Irvine-based clothing maker St. John Knits International Inc.

• Wendy Peterson, general counsel of Knobbe, Martens, Olsen & Bear LLP in Irvine.

• Matthew Maletta, vice president and associate general counsel for Irvine-based drug and medical products maker Allergan Inc.
