Irvine-based memory products maker Western Digital Corp. has named Amgen Inc. executive Olivier Leonetti its next chief financial officer.
Leonetti, 50, has served as vice president of finance at the Thousand Oaks biotech company since 2011 and will replace Tim Leyden.
Leyden, 62, is scheduled to retire in January and will advise Chief Executive Officer Steve Milligan until then, the company said.
The management change will take effect Sept. 8.
In November, Leyden returned as finance chief at Western Digital for the second time in six years.
His first stint ran from 1983 to 2000, and he rejoined the company in 2007 as executive vice president, finance.
Last year, Leyden replaced CFO Wolfgang Nickl, who took a similar position with ASML Holding N.V. in the Netherlands to be closer to friends and family in his native Germany.
During his Amgen tenure, Leonetti managed the finances of the company’s global commercial group, which posted revenue of $19 billion in 2013. He also took a leadership role in defining and implementing global product development and commercial strategies, according to Western Digital.
Western Digital shares are flat in after-hours trading Monday, with a market value of about $23.9 billion.
