Ohio Outfit Acquires Weartech in Anaheim

Anaheim-based alloys manufacturer Weartech International Inc. was acquired by Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc. in Cleveland.

Terms were not disclosed.

Weartech makes cobalt- and nickel-based wear-resistant welding alloy products such as rods, wires and electrodes. It also makes engineered components and welding equipment.

The company has manufacturing plants in Anaheim and Port Talbot, Wales. It has about $40 million in annual revenue and about 140 employees total.

Cobalt and nickel alloys are deemed to resist hostile environments, such as corrosion and oxidation, and can maintain hardness at temperatures as high as 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lincoln Electric makes welding, cutting and joining products. It has 42 manufacturing locations across 19 countries.

Its shares are traded on the Nasdaq, with the company’s current market value at about $3.8 billion.

Lincoln Electric had $2.7 billion in revenue and $217 million in profit in 2011.
