Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was down about 0.2% in midday trading to 2,668.37.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 0.3% to 24,576.20.

The Nasdaq dropped about 0.4% to 7,053.88.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond declined 0.6% to 3.05%.

The price of gold was 0.5% lower to $1,214.

FINANCE

Opus Bank (Nasdaq: OPB) in Irvine was up 4% to $21.27 and a $767 million market cap. Opus said president and Chief Executive Steve Gordon resigned and Board Chairman Paul Greig was named to the posts on an interim basis.

MANUFACTURING

Newport Beach-based American Vanguard Corp. (NYSE: AVD) was down 6% to $16.78 and a $509 million market cap. Shares in the chemicals maker had dipped slightly following its quarterly report three weeks ago then recovered most of the lost ground. AVD shares are down about 20% on the year.
