Amonix Taps VC Investor for Interim CEO

Seal Beach-based Amonix Inc. has named Silicon Valley venture capital executive Jan van Dokkum its interim chief executive following the death of Brian Robertson in a plane crash last month.

Amonix is a private company that makes solar power systems for commercial use in the U.S. and internationally.

Dokkum is a partner at Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, an investor in Amonix.

He spent seven years at South Windsor, Conn.-based UTC Power, a division of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. before joining Kleiner Perkins in 2009. He managed UTC Power’s power generation products and services.

Dokkum also formed Raleigh, N.C.-based Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution Inc. in 1997, and served as chief executive for five years.

Amonix’s board of directors has formed a search committee for the selection and appointment of a new chief executive.

Robertson became Amonix’s chief executive in 2009, when the company acquired Sunworks Solar LLC, a solar manufacturing plant developer that he cofounded in 2008.
