Valeant Pharmaceuticals International said Friday that it bought DermaTech Pty Ltd., an Australian company, for $12.2 million.
Aliso Viejo-based Valeant said buying DermaTech expands its Australian specialty drug business.
Dermatology is one of Valeant’s main markets, along with neurology drugs and drugs to fight infectious diseases.
DermaTech was founded in 1987 and has annual sales of about $6.7 million. It makes both over-the-counter and prescription drugs for conditions such as acne, psoriasis, warts, head lice and nits.
