Chad Kurz was named an associate at Taylor in New-port Beach. Kurz previous-ly was a project manager responsible for project
planning and management. He has worked on medical projects for Kaiser Per-manente, Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
BANKING
City National Bank named Mayra Martinez vice president and manager of its Los Alamitos banking office.
CONSULTING
Marc Engelman was named managing director at Zone Capital Partners LLC, a financial consulting firm in Laguna Hills. Engelman will oversee the launch of the firm’s emerging growth fund, which is in the natural resource sector.
EDUCATION
Charlene Ashendorf was named executive director of the Dorazio Learning Cen-ter in Santa Ana. She has experience in grant writing and fundraising for Costa Mesa-based Community & School Collaboration and Laurel House in Tustin. She also served on the boards of the Newport Mesa Schools Foundation and Leadership Tomorrow.
The Saddleback College Theatre Arts department added Mark McQuown as technical director and designer and hired several associate faculty members: Jonelle Allen, Maria Mayenzet, John Glaudini, Ellen Prince and Daniel Trevino.
Larry Zeiber was named executive director of principal gifts at University of California, Irvine. Zeiber most recently was senior associate dean of biomedical advancement at Brown University. He has also held development positions at Stanford University and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
California State University, Fullerton, President Milton Gordon was named chairman of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Governing Board. The assoc-iation represents Hispanic-serving educational institutions, where Latinos constitute at least 25% of the student population.
ENGINEERING
Martin Bock was promoted to president at Concept Development Inc. in Irvine. Bock formerly was vice president of marketing and sales. Concept Development specializes in product development and manufacturing for customers in aerospace, in-flight entertainment and medical markets.
INSURANCE
Denise Plecas joined Yates & Associates Insurance Services in Tustin as an underwriter/broker for new business, property and casualty. Plecas previously was a senior assistant account executive for the underwriting department of Brown & Brown Inc.
LAW
Klein, O’Neill & Singh LLP added Daniel Cavanagh, Tom Dao and Bridgette Phan as partners in its Irvine office. Cavanaugh and Dao formerly were partners at Christie, Parker & Hale LLP. Phan has prosecuted life science, biotechnology and medical device cases and was director of chemistry at Burstein Technologies Inc. and FastraQ Inc.
MARKETING
Kevin Tomczak was promoted to vice president at PowerMark Group Inc. in San Juan Capis-trano. Tomczak previously was senior director of the marketing division.
NONPROFIT
Women Helping Women in Costa Mesa named Marcia Evans, Heather Novak and Cristin Kurtz to its board of directors. The nonprofit provides business apparel, image consulting and employment search support for women.
Santa Ana-based Taller San Jose promoted Shawna Smith from associate director to execu-tive director. Smith has experience managing the program’s goal attainment and staff development.
REAL ESTATE
Project Solutions Group hired Stevie Field as director of business development of the west region. Field works in Irvine and formerly was executive director of the Southwest California Economic Alliance. She has been involved in the development of more than 1 million square feet of commercial and industrial projects.
Pennie Cronin joined Newport Real Estate Services Inc. in Costa Mesa as a property manager. Cronin previously worked at PM Realty Group LP and CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. She has experience in commercial property man-agement, specializing in industrial and office
properties.
RiverRock Real Estate Group Inc. in Santa Ana added Carla Gazzolo to lead its new value maximization unit. Gazzolo formerly was a senior vice president and senior regional managing director at Colliers International.
