Sports agent Leigh Steinberg of Newport Beach received the Keys to Success Award by Project Access, which helps poor families through education and other programs. The award is given to those who have offered time, resources and leadership in community service. Steinberg has given to the Orange County Human Relations Commission, the Spirit Run, the Newport Beach Film Festival and the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. His clients have donated more than $100 million to various charities.

Law newspaper Daily Journal named three Orange County lawyers to its annual Top 100 list of California lawyers: Mike Flynn, John Hueston and Joseph Re. Flynn is a partner at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth. Hueston is a litigation partner at Irell & Manella LLP. Re is a litigation partner at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP. The list is compiled using research from peers, clients, recruiters and judges.

Chapman University ranked No. 15 on the fourth annual Top 25 Entrepreneurial Colleges for Undergraduates survey by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. Schools are ranked based on factors such as mentoring, active faculty and alumni involvement, and commitment to entrepreneurship inside and outside the classroom. Chapman offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Ralph W. Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics, in the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics.

South Coast Plaza’s Web site was named an Official Honoree at the 10th Annual Webby Awards by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-member group of Web experts, business figures and celebrities. Web sites designated as Official Honorees are deemed as one of the best by judges. More than 5,500 entries were submitted globally. The site was designed by Visualade Inc.

Barbara Anabo was named Local Hero by the Orange County affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and BMW of North America. Anabo was honored for her work at the University of California, Irvine’s Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center in Orange. Anabo helped underinsured or uninsured women find assistance programs and acted as a supporter for such women while they went through treatments. Anabo is a two-time breast cancer survivor for more than 20 years.

Karen Lee, a second-grade teacher at Fairmont Private Schools’ Anaheim Hills campus, was designated Master Educator by Renaissance Learning Inc., a provider of educational software. The status is given to certified Renaissance Model Educators who motivate students to read and reach goals.

Colleen Rymas was named 2005-2006 Employee of the Year by the Coast Community College District. Rymas is an insurance and claims specialist in the risk services department. Rymas joined the district in 1993.

The Orange County High School of the Arts was named a 2006 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education. Schools are selected based on one of two criteria that involve high performance on state tests. The school was one of five chosen locally: El Dorado High School in Placentia, Northwood High School in Irvine, Oak Middle School in Los Alamitos and Troy High School in Fullerton.

The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana was selected as the 2006 Best Museum in Orange County in the Orange County Register’s 13th Annual Best of Orange County publication, which lists survey results from the public. Exhibits at the museum have included “Secret World of Forbidden City,” “The Dead Sea Scrolls,” “Egyptian Treasures of The British Museum” and “Tibet: Treasures from the Roof of the World.” The museum opened in 1936.

The Irvine office of LendingTree LLC received the Platinum Achievement Award from the American Red Cross of Orange County. The award is given to companies that have increased their blood donations by at least 40% from the previous year. The Irvine office donated 133% more blood in 2006 than in 2005.
