Santa Ana-based title insurer First American Corp. said on Wednesday it has hired former Freddie Mac Chief Financial Officer Anthony “Buddy” Piszel as its chief financial officer and treasurer.
Piszel, 54, had been with McLean, Va.-based Freddie Mac for a year and a half. Prior to that, Piszel served as CFO for Woodland Hills-based Health Net Inc.
He replaces First American’s interim CFO, Max Valdes.
Piszel’s responsibilities include overseeing First American’s financial reporting group, debt and stock issues and investor relations.
Piszel will be paid an annual salary of $500,000 and has a target annual performance bonus of $1 million, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
First American’s permanent CFO job opened when Frank McMahon was named in early 2008 as head of the company’s title insurance business.
