Energy Costs Prod Producer Prices

Big gains in food and energy costs pushed U.S. producer prices up a sharp 0.4% last month, but other prices remained largely in check as vehicle prices slumped, a government report showed on Tuesday. The Labor Department said the core producer price index, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, rose 0.1% in February after a 0.8% gain a month earlier.
