The price of Emulex Corp.’s lower outlook for the current quarter: nearly $200 million in market value.
Shares of the networking gear maker were off more than 11% on Friday, a day after the company missed profit expectations for the recently ended quarter and warned about the current one.
Emulex’s market value stood at $1.5 billion near the end of trading on Friday.
The company, which makes host bus adapters for linking computers on storage networks, said it expects sales of $106 million to $108 million for the current quarter.
Analysts were expecting $112 million. Profits could come in on the low side of expectations, Emulex said.
Emulex’s results are in contrast to rival and former subsidiary QLogic Corp. of Aliso Viejo. The two companies dominate the host bus adapter market.
Earlier this month, QLogic beat estimates with its quarterly results.
