Irvine-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp. said Thursday it started selling its Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Magna heart valve in Europe.
The valve is used to replace patients’ mitral heart valves.
Edwards also said it asked the Food and Drug Administration for approval to sell the valve in the U.S. The device maker expects to start selling the valve here next year.
Shares of Edwards were up 0.9% at $43.6 Thursday.
