Chapman B-School Dean Stepping Down

Douglas Tuggle, dean of the business school at Chapman University in Orange since 2002, is stepping down, citing his wife’s health issues.

Tuggle plans to stay on as dean until a replacement is found. After that, Tuggle is expected to remain a professor at Chapman’s George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics.

The school’s board of counselors is set to meet early next month. Plans to find a new business dean are set to be a focus.

Tuggle took over as dean nearly three years ago after the abrupt resignation of Henry Butler, who remains on the business school faculty.

His career includes appointments as dean at the Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, D.C., and the Jones School of Management at Rice University in Houston. He holds a doctorate in industrial administration from Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Institute of Technology, part of Carnegie Mellon University.
