Lake Forest-based Apria Healthcare Group Inc. said Friday that it bought VitalAire, a home healthcare business, from France’s Air Liquide Group.
Terms weren’t disclosed. VitalAire had about $20 million in 2004 revenue.
Air Liquide said it was exiting the U.S. to focus on Europe, but could return to large American markets in the future.
Apria provides breathing treatments, drugs and medical equipment for patients in their homes.
Last month, Apria hired Morgan Stanley & Co. as the first step toward possibly being acquired.
Apria, which had sales last year of $1.4 billion, could potentially fetch around $2 billion in any potential sale.
