St. Joseph Health to Cut 76 Jobs in Department Reorganization

Orange hospital operator St. Joseph Health has reorganized its revenue cycle services department and is asking its current workers to reapply for new jobs created by the change.

St. Joseph, which expects to eliminate 76 jobs in the process, said that it is consolidating separate jobs at its local hospitals into one department that will handle registration, billing and collection matters.

St. Joseph owns St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Fullerton’s St. Jude Medical Center and Mission Hospital, which has campuses in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach.

The health system said in a statement that the net number of jobs eliminated at its four local hospitals as a result of the reorganization would be 76, even though it had filed paperwork with the state Employment Development Department indicating it would lay off 239 workers effective Sept. 29.

St. Joseph notified the state of the layoffs, as required under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
