Laguna Hills-based dental device developer Sonendo Inc. has raised $18 million from a group of new and returning investors, wrapping up a funding round totaling $27.2 million.
Sonendo said it plans to use the money to fund ongoing clinical trials and support commercialization of its root-canal cleaning tool, which is slated for launch next year.
The latest round was led by Manhattan-based OrbiMed Advisors LLC and included Fjord Ventures in Laguna Hills, NeoMed Management in Norway, and new investor Themes Investment Partners.
New York-based Themes Investment focuses on opportunities in China. The firm’s chief executive, Frank Yu, has joined Sonendo’s board of directors as part of the funding.
Sonendo raised $9.2 million last year.
