The Santa Ana-based Desert to the Sea Region of the American Red Cross covering Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties named Linda Voss its third chief executive since March 2013.
A spokesperson said Voss replaces Janet Whitcomb, who had been interim chief executive since the previous top executive there, Maxine Margaritis, moved in October to a slot at the American Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D,C,
Margaritis had been regional chief executive here since February 2013; Whitcomb has retired.
In her new role Voss oversees a $10 million annual budget, 35 employees and 2,000 volunteers, a press release said.
“Linda brings with her a wealth of experience and valuable insight,” said Dale Hudson, chairman of the board of directors for Red Cross services in Orange County, in a statement. “[She’s] a remarkable leader with proven results.”
She was previously chief executive of Red Cross operations in Baltimore and in Louisville, Ky. She has worked for medical and pharmaceutical companies, run a biopharmaceutical consulting firm, and spent eight years at American Red Cross headquarters in Washington, D.C., according to her LinkedIn profile.
At the national organization Voss directed marketing for plasma derivative products and for blood to hospitals, and led market research teams, the release said.
The American Red Cross provides “about 40% of the nation’s blood,” the press release said.
