Quality Systems Buys Hospital Software Maker

Irvine-based Quality Systems Inc. said Tuesday that it has acquired CQI Solutions Inc. of New Braunfels, Texas, for an undisclosed price.

Quality makes software that dentists and doctors use to manage their practices. It has annual revenue of about $350 million and has seen recent growth as healthcare providers have moved toward “paperless” offices.

CQI makes software used for patient scheduling, electronic charting and disseminating other surgical information within hospital settings. Its software is installed at more than 100 hospitals, Quality said in a release announcing the deal.

Quality said it bought CQI, which will become part of its NextGen Healthcare Information Systems unit, as a way to expand its hospital-based health information technology business.

The company said that NextGen and CQI previously worked together on projects for various customers.
