The Irvine-based firm makes sterilization and disinfection products for healthcare uses, including a sterilization system to decontaminate N95 respirator masks called Sterrad. ASP has installed at least 9,930 Sterrad systems in 6,300 hospitals across the U.S., according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Barry joins ASP from Philips, where she served as a general manager and vice president for patient monitoring. She has also been a vice president of patient management at Medtronic, and has held business development roles at John Deere and Procter & Gamble.
She replaces Dominic Ivankovich in the president’s role for the company, whose operations in Irvine have expanded over the past year.
“Aisha’s extensive healthcare background coupled with software and consumer products innovation will help strengthen ASP’s digital expertise, develop strategic alliances, and expand our international sales presence,” Barbara Hulit, senior vice president of Fortive’s Advanced Healthcare Solutions segment, said in a statement.
ASP was previously a unit of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ). In April 2019, it sold the Irvine unit to Everett, Wash.-based Fortive Corp. (NYSE: FTV) for about $2.8 billion; it’s now part of Fortive’s Advanced Healthcare Solutions division, which in 2020 did about $1.1 billion in revenue, regulatory filings show.
Revenue from ASP declined in the fourth quarter of 2020 due to a drop in elective surgeries, Fortive CEO Jim Pico told analysts at the end of February. However, Pico said the company is optimistic about its future given vaccine rollout and strong equipment sales in 2020 that will allow the company to charge into 2021 with a bigger install base compared to a year ago.
