The S&P 500 fell 0.2% to 3,901.32 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 0.4% to 31,300.46, while the Nasdaq declined 0.02% to 13,970.92.
Crude oil slid 0.7% to $58.25 a barrel.
Gold was down 0.9% to $1,824.70.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury increased 1.2% to 1.147%.
REAL ESTATE
First American Financial Corp. (NYSE: FAF) rose 4.2% to $57.60 and a $6.4 billion market cap. The Santa Ana-based provider of title insurance today announced fourth-quarter earnings that topped analyst consensus estimates. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 24% to $2.15 billion, up from $1.73 billion the same period a year ago.
HEALTHCARE
Tustin-based Avid Bioservices Inc. (Nasdaq: CDMO) fell 6.6% to $17.22 and a $1 billion market cap. Shares of Avid, a contract manufacturer of biologics, are still up threefold since last March.
