The S&P 500 rose 0.6% to 3,290.82 in midday trading while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1% to 26,759.31.
The Nasdaq was down 0.3% to 10,880.98.
Crude oil jumped 1.7% to $36.41.
Gold was up 0.7% to $1,892.20 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year bond fell 2.1% to 0.842%.
HEALTHCARE
Orange County healthcare stocks fell in Monday midday trading, led by Irvine-based Inari Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: NARI), which fell 4.1% to $63.51 and a $3.1 billion market cap. Shares of the maker of devices to remove blood clots are still up threefold since their IPO price of $19 in May.
Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) shares were trading down 3.1% to $54.19. The San Clemente-based ophthalmic medical device maker had a recent market cap of $2.4 billion.
Irvine-based medical device company Axonics Modulation Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AXNX) decreased 2.8% to $45.56 per share for a market cap of $1.8 billion. Shares for the company, which makes products to treat urinary and bowel dysfunction, are trading at less than half their average daily volume.
