Bakers, Cafés, Farm Bring Free Food to Hospital Workers

Locals in the food business are backing healthcare workers with hospital deliveries.

Laguna Hills’ Break of Dawn chef and owner Dee Nguyen, Orange-based OC Baking Company owner and baker Dean Kim, Irvine-based Crema Artisan Bakers owner Tarit Tanjasiri and the non-profit TIP of Orange County plan to deliver made-from-scratch chicken noodle soup, bread and cookies to local urgent care and ER workers beginning Friday.

Produce to make the soup was donated by Glenn Tanaka of Tanaka Farms and the non-profit Solutions for Urban Agriculture, both of Irvine.

OC Baking Company has been holding pop-up markets from 8 AM to 2 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM on weekdays at its Glassell Street location, where an array of locally-prepared items are available to the public. Complementary loaves of bread are available to healthcare workers.

Those interested in volunteering or donating for the hospital delivery runs should contact Break of Dawn’s Nguyen at dee.breakofdawn@gmail.com.
