Joe Kiani Appointed to Scripps Research Board of Directors

Third board Masimo founder has joined in the past three months

Masimo Corp. Founder Joe Kiani has been appointed to the board of directors of Scripps Research, a nonprofit biomedical research institute in San Diego.

In his role, Kiani will help guide the institution’s strategy as it advances biomedical discovery and translational research. Scripps Research was ranked by Nature Index as the world’s most innovative institute and is home to six Nobel Prizes and 15 FDA approved medications.

Kiani has joined several boards of several medtech companies in the past three months including Boston-based Clairity, the developer of an AI-powered risk assessment platform for breast cancer, and SMSbiotech, a regenerative medicine company in San Diego.

In addition to his active board participation, Kiani last year launched a new company called Willow Laboratories, which recently released a second version of its app designed to help prevent the progression of prediabetes to Type 2 diabetes.

For more on Kiani, see the March 2 print edition of the Business Journal.
