Orange County companies account for four of the 12 finalists for the 2011 Innovations in Healthcare Abby Awards to be announced by the Adaptive Business Leaders Organization on Sept. 28 in Long Beach.
The local finalists are: CareMeridian LLC, an Aliso Viejo-based healthcare manager; Irvine-based drug maker Cobalis Corp.; information technology company PathCentral Inc. in Irvine; and Aliso Viejo-based Vertos Medical Inc., which makes devices for treating spinal injuries.
The Abby’s are presented to companies from throughout North America that have developed ways to lower the cost of providing quality healthcare through their medical or information technologies or innovative approaches to the delivery of healthcare.
“It’s remarkable that one-third of this year’s 12 finalists are from Orange County,” said Mimi Grant, president of the organization. “For years, finalists and Abby winners have hailed from throughout North America.”
The four Abby winners will be selected by a panel of healthcare executives attending the 13th Annual Innovations in Healthcare Awards in Long Beach.
All finalists provide products or services that are currently in use in the U.S., and have clinical and financial measurements that show they reduce the cost of providing quality care.
