Ensign Buys in Texas, Washington

Mission Viejo-based Ensign Group Inc. said today that it bought a nursing home and a home health and hospice provider in two separate deals. Terms were not disclosed.

The company owns nursing homes, home health businesses and hospices.

Ensign said it bought Legacy Rehabilitation and Living, a 150-bed nursing home in Amarillo, Texas. Legacy will become part of Ensign’s Keystone Care Inc. subsidiary.

The company also bought Elite Home Health and Hospice in Clarkston, Wash., from Tri-State Memorial Hospital. Elite serves eastern Washington and northern Idaho and will be operated by Ensign subsidiary Paragon Healthcare.

Ensign shares were up 1% in midday trading today to a market value of about $691.6 million.
