Device Maker SenoRx’s CEO Dies

SenoRx Inc., an Irvine medical device maker, said Monday that Chief Executive Lloyd H. Malchow died Sunday. Malchow, who was 56, had been undergoing cancer treatment.

SenoRx, which makes devices used to diagnose and treat breast cancer, said in February that Malchow was taking an indefinite medical leave of absence for treating an unspecified type of cancer.

John Buhler, SenoRx’s president and chief operating officer, stepped in as acting chief executive. Buhler joined the company in 2008.

Malchow joined SenoRx in 1999. Prior to coming to the company, Malchow worked for Penederm, a drug delivery company bought by Mylan Laboratories in 1998. His career also included a stint at Allergan Inc., the Irvine-based maker of Botox and other drugs.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
