Argyros Family Gives $7M for Hoag Nursing Program

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian today received a $7 million gift from Orange County philanthropists George and Julia Argyros to support its nursing program.

The Argyroses have cumulatively given $10 million to the hospital for expanding nursing scholarships, making them the largest donors to the nursing program in Hoag’s history, the hospital said in a news release.

“This donation will empower nurses to achieve their educational goals, take on advanced clinical roles in patient care, broaden their skill sets, mentor new Hoag nurses, and improve patient care,” Hoag Chief Executive Robert Braithwaite said of the couple’s donation.

Hoag also unveiled a “Julia Argyros Center for Nursing Excellence” seal that will be displayed throughout its campuses.

Julia Argyros said she and her husband are “privileged” to support Hoag’s nurses and “give them the opportunity to achieve their educational goals.”
