Aliso Viejo-based Johnny Rockets named Charles Bruce president and chief executive, the second such senior executive-level move in the past month.
Bruce comes to the retro burger chain from Peter Piper Inc., a pizza chain in Phoenix. He’s also worked for a trade association for Pizza Hut franchisees in Wichita, Kan., and for Wendy’s International LLC in Dublin, Ohio.
The company noted in a statement Bruce’s experience in Peter Piper’s turnaround; in marketing; in integrating multiple brands within a chain; and “a proven track record establishing productive relationships with franchise partners.”
Johnny Rockets launched four concepts in September—a drive-thru, drive-in, food truck, and movie theater pop-up— and wants to add franchises in both the U.S.—it’s in about two-thirds of the states—and overseas.
Last month the company named James Walker its president of operations and development, a new post. He had been chief development officer.
The chain hired its first chief marketing officer in July and changed chief financial officers about a year ago.
Bruce replaced former president and chief executive John Fuller, who “left to pursue other interests” at the end of February, according to a spokesperson.
