CPK to Introduce First California-Style Burger

Restaurant chain to promote non-pizza menu items during October

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) will add its first-ever burger to the menu on Oct. 4 as part of a marketing push to highlight non-pizza menu items.

More than 65% of CPK sales come from those items, according to the Costa Mesa-based company. Introduced as the new “West Coast Burger”, the dish comes after a successful test market run in 10 restaurants across a range of domestic markets, officials said.

The burger will debut during a limited time special where CPK will offer a complimentary seven-inch pizza to restaurant rewards members who order the burger, salad or pasta during October.

Menu innovation is led by Executive Chef Brian Sullivan, who has been with the company since its second year in business. CPK ranked No. 8 on the Business Journal’s list of OC restaurant chains in May with sales of $490 million for 2021.
