Westinghouse Settles With Vizio

Brinkman: will “agressively protect” Vizio’s rights, expand its licensing program

Irvine-based Vizio Inc. will license technology to television maker Westinghouse Digital LLC of Orange following settlement of a dispute in which Vizio had sued its TV-manufacturing rival for patent infringement.

Westinghouse will license Vizio’s QAM patent portfolio via a cross-license between the two companies. Westinghouse will pay unspecified royalties to Vizio under terms of the settlement.

“Pleased”

“We are pleased with the result of our patent licensing efforts,” Vizio Chief Administrative Officer Rob Brinkman said. “It further demonstrates the technical strength and value of Vizio’s patent portfolio.

“Having successfully resolved the disputes, we shall continue to aggressively protect our rights and actively expand Vizio’s licensing program,” Brinkman added.
