Wells Fargo to Close Santa Ana Call Center

Wells Fargo & Co. plans to close a customer service center in Santa Ana, a move that gives 315 employees 30 days to find a replacement job elsewhere in the bank’s Southern California operations.

“We have 450 jobs open in the Orange County and Los Angeles regions,” Executive Vice President John Sotoodeh said. “We will be working with them to identify other opportunities in Wells Fargo. Our goal is to retain as many as possible.”

Sotoodeh heads the OC and Los Angeles markets, which were combined last year as part of Wells Fargo’s nationwide cost-cutting program.

Customer calls that were handled by the Santa Ana office will be routed to 24 other customer service centers in the U.S., Sotoodeh said.

San Francisco-based Wells Fargo employs nearly 50,000 people in California, with about 15,000 in Orange and Los Angeles counties.
