Former U.S. Congresswoman Mimi Walters has been named to the board of B. Riley Financial Inc.
Walters represented the 45th district, covering all or part of 10 cities including Irvine, Anaheim, Tustin, Orange, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest and Aliso Viejo. She lost to Congresswoman Katie Porter in November.
B. Riley provides financial services including in the public markets. Its board has nine members, including six independent directors. Walters is the only woman, which brings the company into compliance with a state law requiring representation by both men and women on the boards of publicly traded firms based in the state.
Woodland Hills-based B. Riley (Nasdaq: RILY) traded recently at a $519 million market cap.
