State Farm to Shut Irvine Office

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. plans to close its Irvine office in 2019, a move that will affect 360 employees there.

The closure is being announced now so as to give employees adequate time to consider their next moves, spokesman Justin Tomczak said. He said these employees will have opportunities to work at other State Farm locations.

“The jobs are moving; they’re not going away,” he said.

The Irvine closure is part of a restructuring effort to shutter 11 offices nationwide, which will affect 4,200 workers.

The work from these 11 facilities will move to the company’s headquarters in Bloomington, Ill., and other offices, including Atlanta, Dallas, and Phoenix.

State Farm has almost 70,000 employees.
