Ronald Skipper has announced plans to retire as chairman of the board of directors of Costa Mesa-based Pacific Premier Bancorp Inc. at the end of July.
Pacific Premier’s subsidiary Pacific Premier Bank is among the largest banks based in Orange County, with $985.2 million in assets at the end of the first quarter.
Skipper has been a member of the company’s board since 1983, and served as chairman since 1997.
Pacific Premier has not made an announcement on Skipper’s successor.
“The board will be discussing that, and there will be a board meeting on July 25, which will be the final meeting Ronald will preside over,” Chief Executive Steven Gardner said.
Skipper also is a self-employed attorney who has been practicing for about 40 years. He sold his San Bernardino law firm and retired from the practice earlier this month.
He has served on a number of boards of companies and organization, including San Bernardino-based Stater Bros. Holdings Inc.; the University of California, Hastings College of Law 1066 Foundation; and the California State University, San Bernardino Foundation.
Skipper oversaw Pacific Premier’s latest acquisition of Palm Desert-based Palm Desert National Bank from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The deal brought $125.8 million in assets to the bank, which will be reflected in its second-quarter reports.
