Signature Bank Expands to Orange County

New York-based Signature Bank (Nasdaq: SBNY) is expanding to Orange County and has hired a prominent local banker from rival JPMorgan Chase.

Emilie McMurray was named Signature’s managing group director overseeing six Signature teams out of a Newport Beach office. McMurray was previously a senior vice president managing an 80-person team that oversaw JPMorgan’s business banking in Orange County.

“The teams under McMurray’s direction throughout both Northern and Southern California include mainly professionals with whom she previously worked at JPMorgan Chase,” Signature said in a statement.

Signature has $42.2 billion in deposits, making it one of the 40 largest in the nation.

Signature, which has a $5.5 billion market cap, is opening three other offices in Southern California. Judi Prejean, who was a senior vice president overseeing Bank of the West’s California business operations, will oversee Signature’s West Coast efforts out of its Woodland Hills office.

A team led by Brian Ngo-Tran and Huy Doan, both named group director and senior vice president, will be based out of the soon-to-open Newport Beach private client banking office. Other Signature hires with Orange County banking ties include Devin Butler, Rita Al-Silhi, Zach Lomas and Noemi Martinez. Another Newport Beach team headed by Joe Mauriello and Tim Huynh includes Channing Lindsay, Grace Patton and Michelle Trinh.
