Drunk Elephant has sold to Tokyo-based Shiseido Company Ltd.’s Shiseido Americas Corp. division.
Drunk Elephant, which has an office in Newport Beach, gained steam since its 2012 start, particularly among Generation Z and Millennials, for its quirky marketing and clean beauty formulations that avoid ingredients such as alcohol, silicones and dyes.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Reports say Shiseido will pay about $845 million for the business.
