San Clemente Firm Raises $15 million

San Clemente-based VertiFlex Inc. has raised about $15.2 million from six investors.

VertiFlex makes minimally invasive devices to treat spinal disorders.

The company’s Superion Interspinous Spacer received premarket approval from the Food and Drug Administration last May to treat moderate lumbar spinal stenosis. VertiFlex also makes the Totalis Direct Decompression system.

VertiFlex has raised $108 million—about $84 million in equity and $24 million in debt—in 10 funding rounds since 2007. The investors in the latest funding round were not disclosed in the Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
