$55M for Law School

Chapman University’s School of Law received a historic donation when real estate developer Dale E. Fowler and his wife, Sarah Ann, donated $55 million to the school.

It is the second-largest reported gift to any law school in the United States.

The Dale E. Fowler School of Law was christened at a ribbon-cutting event on Sept. 10.

The keynote speaker was former Secretary of State George Shultz.

Dale Fowler is a Chapman alumnus who made a fortune in real estate. His career in real estate began while he was still at the campus in Orange.

The donation caps an extended fundraising effort by the school to build its new science center. The school, in honor of the contribution, named the building the Lisa Argyros and Family Science Center, which will be 13,000 square feet when completed.

Other donors who contributed to the $8 million needed to complete the center included the Ueberroth Family Foundation, Jennifer and Donald Robert, and John Gregg, among others.

Partnership Benefits Heroes

The Wells Fargo Foundation recently gave a $50,000 grant to Irvine Valley College’s new Veteran’s Services Center. The grant will be used to support the school’s ongoing efforts to help veterans who attend Irvine Valley College.

The goal of the Veteran’s Service Center is to provide professional and emotional support to veterans attending Irvine Valley College.

“This collaboration shows what can be accomplished when the public, private and nonprofit sectors work together for the good of the community,” said Richard Morley, executive director of the Irvine Valley College Foundation.

Teen Center Becomes Reality

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana received a $250,000 donation from Irvine-based Taco Bell Foundation for the Boys & Girls’ expansion campaign. The goal is to raise nearly $2.3 million.

The Taco Bell donation will be used to establish a new culinary center, as well as help build the Boys & Girls’ Teen Center, which will be 3,500 square feet.
