MSC Software Corp. in Newport Beach, a unit of Hexagon AB’s Manufacturing Intelligence, said it will buy VIRES Simulationstechnologie GmbH to expand into automated driving technology. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.
VIRES, a private company based in southern Germany, provides simulation software for the automotive, railroad and aerospace industries. Its core product, the VIRES Virtual Test Drive, is used for testing of advanced driver assistance, active safety systems and automated driving.
MSC makes simulation software to assist both design and production teams with real-time data. Stockholm-based Hexagon, an IT service provider, in April completed its $834 million acquisition of MSC Software.
