The S&P 500 rose 1% to 3,304.10 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 0.4% to 26,613.94 while the Nasdaq climbed 1.8% to 11,202.92.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond increased 6.4% to 0.831%.
Oil fell 3.9% to $35.95.
The price of gold decreased 0.6% to $1,867.90 per ounce.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Inari Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: NARI) rose 15% to $69.00 with a $3.3 billion market cap. Shares of the medical device maker are down about 15% since Oct. 13. Shares are still up more than threefold since its initial public offering in May.
Novus Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: NVUS) of Irvine climbed 20.8% to $21.14 with a $26 million market cap. Novus announced a 1-for-18 reverse stock split at the beginning of the month. Its shares are up 67% since Sept. 15, when the company announced its acquisition of Anelixis Therapeutics.
