Frost Capital, Symantec Launch Incubator

San Juan Capistrano-based investment firm Frost Data Capital has partnered with security service provider Symantec Corp. in Mountain View to create and seed startups in cyber security analytics, Big Data, and Internet of Things markets.

The plan is to incubate as many as 10 companies per year to deliver advanced cyber security analytics to stymie a growing movement among criminals carrying out security attacks through mainstream technology applications, such as enterprise software and corporate management tools, and emerging segments, such as connected devices.

Frost Data Capital is headed by Managing Partner and Chief Executive Stuart Frost. It has about 20 companies in its portfolio, including Aliso Viejo-based Predixion Software and SourceThought in San Juan Capistrano.

Symantec, which operates one of the largest global data-intelligence networks in the world, has as customers nearly every Fortune 500 company. It posted revenue of $6.5 billion last year.

The partnership highlights Orange County’s developing ecosystem of incubators, which comprise a mix of real estate driven plays, public and private partnerships, and coworking spaces.
