Ensign Group Inc. in Mission Viejo plans to sell 16 urgent care facilities that are open or in development in the Seattle market to MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Wash.
The deal on undisclosed terms is scheduled to close Dec. 11 and completes Ensign’s exit from that segment of healthcare facility ownership. It sold Integrity Urgent Care in Colorado earlier this year.
“We can better use our resources by focusing on post-acute [care],” said Ensign President and Chief Executive Christopher Christensen in a statement.
Ensign Group runs about 230 healthcare facilities in 14 states that provide skilled nursing, assisted living, physical and occupational therapy, and home health and hospice services.
MultiCare Health System, founded in 1882, runs 93 facilities in Washington state that include primary, specialty and urgent care facilities; mini-clinics in Rite Aid locations; pharmacies; and five hospitals.
