Lake Forest-based iPourIt has received $1 million in angel funding from a group led by Tech Coast Angels, with the potential for another $250,000, according to the company.
Other participants include Pasadena Angels and Harvard Business School Alumni Angels.
IPourIt makes “self-serve draft beer and premium wine on-tap systems” for restaurants, hotels, sporting venues and others, said Chief Executive Joseph McCarthy.
The product can be retrofitted as well, he said. iPourIt provides the hardware and the software to run between six and 40 taps. Patrons get an RFID device and are charged for what they pour, to the tenth of an ounce.
The company is in 37 locations in 19 states and two provinces in Canada.
None are in Orange County, but Newport Beach-based zPizza International Inc. has installed the system in a Sacramento location, McCarthy said.
He and cofounder and Chief Technology Officer Brett Jones initially raised $800,000 from family and friends when they started the company in October 2012, bringing total funding to about $2 million.
Tech Coast Angels member Jiri Modry has joined iPourIt’s board, along with Peter Muzzonigro, the chairman of Micro Matic USA, a Denmark-based international manufacturer and distributor of beer and wine dispensing systems, with West Coast offices in Northridge.
