AbbVie Names Strom to Head Allergan Unit

Carrie Strom, Allergan’s senior vice president, U.S. Medical Aesthetics, has been tapped to head a new Allergan Aesthetics unit after its pending purchase by Abbie (NYSE: ABBV).

Allergan Aesthetics, which will be based in Irvine, will operate as a new global dedicated business with its own research and development function under the AbbVie umbrella and will include leading aesthetic products including Botox Cosmetic, the Juvederm collection of dermal fillers and Coolsculpting body contouring, among others.

Strom, who is based in Irvine, will oversee worldwide operations and will report directly to Richard A. Gonzalez, AbbVie’s chairman and chief executive officer.

“The future has never been brighter for Allergan Aesthetics and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this global business following the close of the proposed combination with AbbVie,” Strom said in a statement.
