Soka University of America named Ed Feasal its second president, effective immediately.
Feasel succeeds the Aliso Viejo-based institution’s first and only president, Daniel Habuki, who served the campus for 27 years before announcing his retirement in June.
The move comes about nine months after Feasal was promoted from chief academic officer to chief operating officer and executive vice president.
Feasel has been with SUA since 1998, serving as a founding dean of the undergraduate program, in addition to dean of students, dean of faculty and vice president for academic affairs.
Privately-held Soka has about 450 students. Close to half of its student population is made up of international students.
