The Rancho Santiago Community College District Board of Trustees recently tapped Jeannie Kim as permanent president of Santiago Canyon College (SCC), a community college in Orange. Kim replaces interim president Enrique Perez, who was appointed to the role last July.
Kim, who starts in her new role on Wednesday, counts over 30 years of experience in education organizations and institutions of higher learning, including California State University, Fullerton. She previously served as associate vice chancellor of grants and economic development at Riverside Community College District.
School officials said Kim has dedicated her career to dismantling institutional barriers to equity and rebuilding educational systems to allow historically underrepresented and underserved students to thrive. She brings a proven track record in succession planning, establishing organizational infrastructure, facilitating culture shifts, developing strategic partnerships and evaluation systems for both institutional and program operations, according to SCC officials.
Total enrollment at SCC last year rose 2.8% to 12,484, according to Business Journal data.
