Brandman Nursing School Named for Muscos

Irvine-based Brandman University’s nursing school has been named after local philanthropists Paul and Marybelle Musco.

The couple recently made an undisclosed gift to Brandman. The school will be known as the Marybelle and S. Paul Musco School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Paul Musco is chairman and founder of Santa Ana-based precious metals company Gemini Industries Inc. He’s also a member of the Chapman University Board of Trustees, and a regent of Brandman University. He served as a medic in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and his sisters served as nurses during the war. Other family members are involved in medicine, including his son, who is an ophthalmologist.

“It is vital that students learn all of the modern technology that comes with excellent patient care,” he said.

The Marybelle and S. Paul Musco School offers a number of nursing and healthcare programs, ranging from certificate courses to doctorate degrees. Its bachelor and doctorate programs were recently accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, an autonomous national accrediting agency.
